1. Find the videos you want
We provide two ways to help you home-in on the videos that most interest you. Try narrowing down your choice by selecting a theme from the menu, as shown here…
Alternatively you can focus on the videos that touch on a specific topic that interests you by selecting a tag below the graphic…
You can combine the two by, for example, selecting a category from the menu and then refining this further by choosing a tag.
Then view a talk by selecting the graphic of the one that you want.
2. Create an Account
In order to vote you will need to register with us. We keep your identity and votes confidential. Just click on “Create Account” at the top of the page :
or on the voting page:
Complete the registration form, and then confirm by clicking the link on the email that gets sent to you. Please give us your work email (i.e. not one at the anonymous free email services such as Windows Live, Gmail etc.)
3. Cast your vote
Most of the videos run for at least ten minutes, and if pushed for time you may want to skip through to the parts that interest you most. Please do see enough to form a considered view – your rating will affect this speaker’s standing relative to others in the shortlist, and so it is important to be fair to each.
In many instances you will find that we offer an alternative video. This option is intended for situations where the first video is unavailable for some reason, or is taking too long to load. The initial video features the PowerPoint slides as well as the speaker, is hosted at the Sonic Foundry website, can can last from ten to just under twenty minutes. The alternative video is the one at the Peer Awards YouTube Channel, shows just the speaker and lasts no more than ten minutes.
Sorry but your vote on a talk that involves a company that you work for will not be counted due to conflict of interest. The same rule applies to everyone.
Please do cast a vote on at least two videos, and make sure that the rating you give varies. This is so we can see which made the biggest impression on you.
Please assess the talk based on its impact within its target community, the degree to which you believe the project or approach to be innovative, and how inspiring you find the project personally – whether you have learned anything new and useful.
To vote assign the number of stars you wish – where 5 stars is the most strongly positive. You can come back later (before the voting closes in mid September) and change this if you wish.
You can also add a comment – for instance explaining your rating or providing some other feedback that the speaker could find useful. You can edit the comment now or later, and just re-submit.
