1. How is the Entrants Package fee made up?
It comprises three elements;
> A free two-year informatology membership, granting special access to activities planned throughout the period
> A £195 entry fee to fund the work involved in organising the awards and processing the entries
> £500 places fee to obtain one, two or three places for your team at conference
2. When is the Entrants Package fee due?
The fee is due with your entry, and is required before your entry can be selected as a finalist. These special rates apply for bookings settled in good time. This means they are paid online at the time of registration, or within 30 working days of receipt of our invoice. Otherwise standard guaranteed rates will apply.
3. Refunds
What happens to the Entrants Package fee if our entry is not nominated for the shortlist?
The £195 entry fee element is non-refundable.
The balance of your award fee is refundable if you request this within two weeks of learning that you have not been shortlisted. Alternatively you can still attend the conference as a participant, benefiting from the advantageous terms you obtained as a Peer Award entrant.
What happens to the Entrants Package fee if we are nominated, but are not selected as finalists?
The £195 entry fee element is still non-refundable.
The balance of your award fee is refundable if you request this within two weeks of learning that you have not selected as a finalist. Alternatively you can still attend the conference as a participant, benefiting from the advantageous terms you obtained as a Peer Award entrant.
4. Why is there a £195 entry fee element?
The entry fee helps fund the work that we do throughout the year organising and processing these awards. In any case, with the award fee being equivalent to that of a single conference place, it is not really an extra cost as such.
5. What is meant by a promotional talk?
A promotional talk is one in which at least one of your speakers has an interest in generating new clients for the project, product or service being described. Even in this case, the talk must not be a sales pitch in any way.
A non-promotional talk is one where none of the people speaking has an interest in generating new clients for the project, product or service being described. If your speaker or speakers are non-promotional, it is still considered a non-promotional talk even if you have promotional people attending the conference.
6. Why would I display the “Nominated for the Peer Award for Excellence” button?
Why wouldn’t you?
A key reason for entering for an award is to obtain recognition for your work and ideas. Being nominated is the first step in this process as far as our awards are concerned, and so we have created this attractive button to help you do this in an engaging way. We want to encourage you to display this button as prominently as possible, so that others in your own peer community can become aware of your accomplishment, and can hear about the Peer Awards as well.
What if I choose to publicise my being nominated in ways other than displaying a button?
Just let us know and it’s probably fine.
7. Why would I stay for the whole day of the conference?
Why wouldn’t you?
The awards are peer awards in that they are judged by the peer community, which is everyone that is present in the conference seminar on the day, which includes you. So, in addition to being given the opportunity to speak at conference, it is important that your views and those of your colleagues and guests are taken into account. You have a right to vote and we want to encourage everyone to exercise that right.
Also, you and your team would not want to miss the plenary session and the awards evening at the end of the conference day.
8. What happens if I plan to display the Nominated button and/or to attend the whole day, but fail to?
In such a situation your fee will be reassessed and you will be charged the balance due after the conference.
9. How comes it can cost me less to stay for the full conference day than to attend just a part?
This is because of the peer community aspect, that by attending our conference and helping determine the award winners you are also an active participant. We reward your contribution as a judge for the peer awards with a discount on your fee. If you do not stay with us for the whole day then you are attending as an ordinary delegate, and the full fee applies.
